On December 15th, the Sun City Car Club held it's First Annual Holiday Party in the Arrowhead Room of the Lakeview Clubhouse.
Diane Prara, the Chairperson/Hostess did a superb job in organizing the event and decorating the room with a holiday flair.
The members attending also did their part by preparing the different food entrees that were served. The club furnished wine for each table and a special holiday cake for desert.
After dinner, each person received a ticket for a drawing. Many of those at the club dinner won the fun gifts of their choice.
Bruce Kaltenbach supplied the music and entertainment for the party and Walt Prara led us in an energetic rendition of the 12 Days of Christmas.
We also wish to thank the members that brought a new unwrapped toy that Phil Kaye delivered to the Barbara Sinatra Children's Clinic the following morning located in the Eisenhower Center. Phil informed us that our gifts brought smiles to many sad faces.
The next Car Club Event is our popular "Poker Run". This year, the route to collect your Poker Hand Cards will take you on a scenic drive through parts of the Coachella Valley. The first card will be selected at the Bocce Ball Court where each entrant will pick their first card then go on their way to 3 other locations for their next cards and finally end up at a fun restaurant for lunch where the fifth and final card will be picked.
At the start, each car in the event will be given a AAA street map of the Coachella Valley to help them locating the card pick up locations.
The driving time will be approximately 2 hours. I hope that all of you reading this newsletter will be able to attend this fun event. We will award cash prizes at the next Car Club meeting to the best three hands.
This event is open to all current paid dues members. If you have not paid your 2005 Annual Dues of $5.00 per member, you may do so Saturday Morning 1/5/05 at the Bocce Ball Court starting location of the Poker Run.
The Car Club is now in the formation period for the 2005 Fall American Cancer Foundation's Annual "Relay for Life". If you have an interesting item you would like to donate for our "Blind Auction" please let Iris know. So far we have a new in the box Electric Scooter and some very interesting new Nostalgic Food Makers for the auction, if you have any item that you believe will make a nice auction item, please let us know.
